Panspeed rx-7

Time attack season is fast approaching here in Japan. As the temperatures begin to drop and we head towards autumn, tuners will be getting all those tasty machines out for some fun. Panspeed, renowned RX-7 and overall rotary tuner is one of the biggest players when it comes to setting records around the little Tsukuba circuit. I met up with the guys from Panspeed a few months back when they were setting up their wide-body RX-7 at the little circuit in Ibaraki-ken.



The little compact side ported 13B puts out 510 PS at 7,500 rpm and close to 55 kgm at a high 6,500 rpm. With only 1090 kg this FD3S has a lot of potential for going very fast. At last year’s Rev Speed magazine Super Lap Battle at Tsukuba this Panspeed RX-7 lapped in 55″603 coming in in second position behind the M-Speed GTR. For this year however they will be trying to get below that 55-second barrier, thanks to a revised engine and chassis package

HKS T04Z with a direct cold air feed pipe, no filter in sight

Brembo GTR racing calipers are used all round (6-pots up front 4-pots at the rear)

Interior is as spartan as it gets with nice little toys like and adjustable pedal box, billet sequential transmission lever and fully spot welded and strengthened chassis

Only the best stuff is used! The small, steering wheel-mounted Motec MDD reads data direct from the M800 ECU

El lobo blanco de las pistas Evolved

Su look GT, el sonido del motor limitando, escucharlo a través de su muffleria de 4.5‘, son factores que te erizan la piel al ver este carro  y aun más al montarte en él. Al principio muchos lo subestimaron al ver que era tan sólo era un Civic Ferio, pero  al verlo en un Track Day o simplemente ver el bonete abierto en seguida cambian su percepción sobre este carro.

Y es que Zen Tokai se propuso llevar su Civic Ferio LEV 00′ a un nivel que nadie se había atrevido alcanzar, preparándolo con miras a participar en los Track Days que frecuentemente se realizan en el Autódromo Mobil 1 en el transcurso del año.

El proyecto ya lleva un tiempo en este ambiente, y ha demostrado que un 4 puertas se puede llevar a un alto nivel.
